Our Story
The story begins in 2012, inside a Russian Banya at an off-grid facility in Portland, Oregon. The experience was nothing short of a powerful outflow of endorphins rushing through the body after rounds of sauna and cold plunge — an unforgettable night that left a lasting impression. Some say the cold plunge feels like a drug of choice, and studies confirm why: the endorphin release triggered by cold immersion has been shown to be more powerful than many addictive substances (which we strongly condemn).
Years later, the same passion was reignited during a visit to a commercial bathhouse in Washington State. From that point forward, the practice of sauna and cold plunge became more than a ritual — it became a way of life, with private setups built at home to keep the tradition alive.
When the Queen City became home in 2021, it was clear that Charlotte had not yet been introduced to this culture. The vision emerged: create a space where people could gather, connect, and experience the timeless benefits of heat and cold together. From that vision, Sunday Hot Springs was born — bringing the bathhouse tradition to Charlotte for the very first time. This is who we are.
Our Ethos
Sunday Hot Springs is a wellness center that provides its attendees a high-end holistic experience. Here at the bathhouse, we strive to treat everyone that walks through our doors with exceptional care. We believe that wellness and health is a human right that is gifted to us by the creator. We strive to bring this gift to the society around us, which results in healthier people, which results in happier people, which results in a more thriving society. We are a place where the community can come together, and not just experience relaxation but see how the relaxation can benefit their every day lives by improving their mental and physical well-being.
